David Anderson, General Manager of Allen & Foxworthy, the NFB’s first heritage specialist scaffolding contractor member, was recently voted in as the Chair for one of NASC’s newly created regions – NASC Wales region.
NASC has grown from 5 to 10 regions so it can keep members better connected to local NASC representatives.
David has nearly 14 years experience serving on NASC committees including the NASC Health & Safety Committee and former Chair of the NASC South West & South Wales region – a position David held for 7 years.
Although a proud Scotsman, David has lived in the Oxfordshire most of his life and joked that he has now become an honoury Welshman.
“It gives me enormous pride to be voted as Chair for the newly formed Wales region” David said on being appointed.
“I relocated from England to Neath, South Wales to be with my beloved partner Ruth and our children a few years ago, so I am fully invested in not just South Wales but Central Wales and North Wales too.”
NASC members had to vote for their preferred candidate so it wasn’t a matter of David being given the role. This is something that means a lot to him.
“The fact that members from the region have voted for me, means so much. When I put my application in, I stated that I have gained valuable insight into the specific challenges Welsh scaffolding contractors face, particularly around working under national rates and the wider pressures affecting the industry. I will proudly represent the needs of all of Wales at NASC Council and make sure we are heard.”
Special mention has to be given to his employer, Allen & Foxworthy – a longstanding, double award winning NASC member (and NFB Heritage member) who allows David to follow his passion.
“I’m really grateful to my boss, Paul Allen for continuing to support my roles within the NASC. It’s a voluntary role and some of the meetings are during company worktime which not all bosses would accept. I am also proudly representing Allen & Foxworthy during these meetings too.”
Given his new position, David will be made an honorary member of NFB Cyrmu so as to boost representation and collaboration across the two trade associations.
The NFB, NASC and Allen & Foxworthy Ltd all wish David success and happiness in this new role.
